College bowl picks and NFL week 15 picks, Bears-Vikings to play at TCF Bank. When the area was rocked with blizzard normal life was crippled. It was thought that NFL matches too would be hit hard by the snowfall. But nothing like this has happened. Reports have surfaced that Vikings-Bears much-talked about game will go on as scheduled. That is a good news for game buffs.
To boost the morale of the players and fans executive vice president of the NFL was there in person at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. He was out there in snow covered ground. However, many have expressed their deep concern over players’ safety.
Chances are that some players may get injured on the frozen field. Eric Grubman said that crewmen are working overtime to clear snow and ice from the outdoor facility. Efforts are on to make sure that the game is not hit in anyway. He said: “We are planning on playing here. If we can’t, at that point we’ll figure out what we’ll do next.’’
Eric wants the match to be held in the cold. It is not that no other city came forward to hold the match. The Indianapolis Colts were the first who expressed their desire to host the matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium. But their offers were rejected by Eric. He said that football is a “cold-wather sport”, and hence there was no need to shift the match somewhere else. But there are many in the industry that fears that this only means that the authorities are not considering the safety.
It was pointed out that Buffalo and Kansas City play in outdoor stadiums. Interestingly, in most of their matches there is no heating system, according to one senior NFL official. With no protest being registered from players it appears that they too are interested in hitting the ground. However, the important question is: what about the fans? Will they turn up in huge numbers to watch their star players slog it out in the cold?
